We are shown how Captain Jack's initiation into Torchwood took place, and how Toshiko risked her life to save her mother. We also discover how Ianto first came to Jack's attention - and what changed the way Owen sees the world.

The scenes where Jack and the team investigate an empty building and discover bombs was filmed at Caerwent Millitary Training Area, Dinham Road, Caerwent, Caldicot. The site is situated north of the A48 road, 12 miles east of Newport and covers an area over 1,500 acres. There are not only over 400 buildings and bunkers on the site, but also an operating railway and a comprehensive road system, for logistics exercises and driver training.
